Are you a Batman fan who has just become part of a Dynamic Duo by adopting a dog?  If you are looking for a DC-themed name for your new canine sidekick, there’s no need to send up the bat signal. We’ve fetched a list of possible Batman dog names for all things associated with The Dark Knight!

Ace —  Our list of dog names devoted to the superhero begins with a canine who has helped the Caped Crusader in his quest for justice! Ace is also referred to as Bat-Hound.

Adam West —  If you are a superfan of the 60s spoof Batman, why not name your four-legged superhero after the first TV star to step into the costume of the Caped Crusader! 

Affleck —  This Academy Award winner donned Bruce Wayne’s iconic disguise for the movies Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League.

Alfred Pennyworth —  A name that denotes wisdom, Alfred is Bruce Wayne’s butler and loyal confidante.

Bale — Academy Award winner Christian Bale donned Batman’s cowl for three films.

Bane —  One of Batman’s most brutal foes, the character of Bane made his comic book debut in 1993.

Barbara Gordon —  The true identity of Batgirl.  

Batgirl —  Pet parents who want to name their super pup after a female superheroine from the DC universe can call their new canine companion Batgirl, who was introduced to comic book readers back in 1967.

Bat-Mite —  For the Batman fan who wants to go old school when choosing a name for their pup, Bat-Mite is a semi-villain/superhero enthusiast with the ability to warp reality. 

Betty Kane —  A name known only to true Batman aficionados, Betty Kane was the first comic book incarnation of the character who would later be known as Batgirl.  (Betty Kane would reappear in DC comics as Bette Kane, the secret identity of Flamebird.)

Bob Kane —  Why not pay tribute to the co-creator of Batman by naming your dog after the comic book writer/artist?

Bruce Wayne —  The billionaire who defends Gotham City as Batman.

Burt Ward —  If you want to name your new barking buddy after a true hero for dogs, you might want to choose the name of the actor who portrayed the Caped Crusader’s sidekick Robin in the iconic 60s series Batman!  Burt Ward is the founder of Gentle Giants Rescue and Adoptions, a nonprofit that  saves the lives of large breed dogs in need.

Cassandra — A name meaning “one who excels over men,” Cassandra Cain has been known by Batman buffs as Batgirl, Black Bat and Orphan.

Catwoman —  If your canine companion won’t mind having a kitty-themed moniker, you could name her after Batman’s nemesis/love interest.

Cesar Romero —  The Joker in the 60s series Batman.

Clayface — If your newly adopted dog has a naughty streak you might want to name him after one of Batman’s nemeses, like this shape shifting villain.

Clooney —  The Hollywood hunk starred as the masked avenger in the 1997 movie Batman & Robin.

Dark Knight—  Another name for Batman.

Ethan Bennett —  Alias Clayface,Ethan Bennett is a Gotham police detective turned shape-shifter.  The name Ethan means “strong” and “safe.”

Frank Gorshin — The Riddler in the 60s series Batman.

Gotham —  The fictional city protected by Batman.

Halle Berry —  The Academy Award winner starred as the feline-inspired antiheroine in the 2004 flick Catwoman.  The name Halle means “heroine.”

Harvey Dent — A DA turned diabolical supervillain.  The name Harvey means “eager for battle.”

Hathaway —  Academy Award winner Anne Hathaway stepped into a catsuit for her portrayal of Selina Kyle in The Dark Knight Rises.

Hush — Although there will be those who assume that you are trying to quiet your canine companion, Batman buffs will know that your dog is named after a relatively new supervillain in Batman’s rogues gallery.

Jason Todd — The second Robin.  The name Jason means “healer.”

Jim Gordon — The Commissioner has been a confidante of Batman since the Caped Crusader made his first appearance in Detective Comics.

Joker — The first supervillain to fight the Caped Crusader, he made his comic book debut in the first issue of Batman back in 1940.

Julie Newmar —  Although some may think that you’ve named your dog after To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar, the true DC devotee will know that you’ve given your barking buddy the name of the actress who starred for two seasons as Catwoman on Batman. 

Keaton —  Michael Keaton brought the brooding vigilante back to the big screen in the 1989 Tim Burton-directed Batman and the follow-up film Batman Returns in 1992.  

Kilmer —  Actor Val Kilmer tackled the role of the Caped Crusader for the 1995 flick Batman Forever.

Lee Meriwether — Fans of the 60s sendoff of the Batman comics can name their pal with paws after the actress who portrayed Catwoman in the 1966 Batman movie.

Lucius Fox —  CEO and President of Wayne Enterprises. The name Lucius means “light.”

Man-Bat —  A villain/antihero who made his debut in the DC universe back in 1970.  Pet parents who would rather name their pup after Man-Bat’s true identity can choose the Batman dog name of Kirk Langstrom.

Matches Malone — The name of both a petty criminal in the Batman universe, and an alter ego for Bruce Wayne when Batman goes undercover.

Michelle Pfeiffer —  The Golden Globe Award winner wielded a cat o’nine tails in Batman Returns.

Mr. Freeze —  A cute name for a “cool” canine, Mr. Freeze is a long-time adversary of the Caped Crusader.  

Nightwing —  Dick Greyson’s superhero identity after stepping away from the role of Robin.

Oswald Cobblepot —  The Penguin’s true identity. 

Pamela Lillian Isley —  The true identity of Poison Ivy.  The name Pamela means “honey.”

Pattinson —  The surname of the latest star to don the cape and cowl.

Penguin —  One of Batman’s original archenemies, the Penguin made his first appearance in a DC comic back in 1941. 

Poison Ivy — A Batman villainess since 1966.

Ra’s Al Gul — Meaning “head of the demon,” this supervillain has battled the Caped Crusader since 1971. 

Rachel Dawes — A childhood sweetheart of the superhero.  

Riddler — One of Batman’s original baddies, the Riddler has menaced Gotham City since 1948. 

Robin — Also known as The Boy Wonder, Bruce Wayne’s ward was one half of The Dynamic Duo.

Scarecrow —  Another original villain for the pet parent who wants an old school name for their dog, Scarecrow has terrified the citizens of Gotham since 1941. 

Selina Kyle —  The secret identity of Batman antiheroine Catwoman, the name Selina means “moon.”  

Sensei — An enemy skilled in martial arts, Sensei made his DC Comics debut back in 1968. 

Terry McGinnis —  Aficionados of animated Batman will recognize this name as the secret identity of the future Caped Crusader.  The name Terry means “reap” or “harvester.”

Tim Drake —  Now known as Red Robin, Tim Drake is a former sidekick of Batman. 

Two-Face —  If you want to name your new canine companion after a classic comic book villain, Two-Face has been a part of the Batman universe since 1942. 

Vicki Vale —  A journalist who carries a torch for Batman, the name Vicki means “victory.’

Victor Fries — The identity of Mr. Freeze.

Yvonne Craig —  Why not make your dog’s name an homage to the original Batgirl!  The name Yvonne means ‘yew wood” or “archer.”

Zoë Kravitz — Our list ends with the latest actress to step into the pawprints of Catwoman.  An apt name for a dog who has been given a second chance at life through pet adoption, Zoe means “life.”
