November 2020: #AdoptedASeniorDog contest

In celebration of Adopt a Senior Pet Month this November, The Grey Muzzle Organization asks everyone who adores an old dog to share why they #AdoptedASeniorDog on social media to help inspire others to adopt an old dog to be their devoted friend during times of quarantine and beyond. Share the endearing qualities that make your senior dog shine by entering Grey Muzzle’s online contest. Simply post a photo and brief comments on your choice of social media and in the comments section of The Grey Muzzle Organization’s Facebook page with the hashtag #AdoptedASeniorDog. You and your dog could be chosen as one of the Top 10 posts to appear on Grey Muzzle’s website and win prizes. And just by sharing your story, you’ll be helping senior dogs who are waiting in shelters win the best prize of all:  a forever home.  Check out the contest rules and details at greymuzzle.org. In honor of Adopt a Senior Pet Month, The Grey Muzzle Organization is also releasing the results of a groundbreaking national study to examine efforts to promote the well-being of senior dogs and identify lifesaving strategies. This study was made possible by a generous grant from Maddie’s Fund.

November 14, 2020: Puppy Up Virtual Walk for Canine Cancer

Puppy Up continues to bring awareness and educate pet parents on how to recognize early signs of cancer in the hopes of keeping their pets healthier. This year both Memphis and Nashville, Tennessee are holding virtual walks in a battle of the cities. See which city can take the most steps, raise the most, and have bragging rights. November 19, 2020: North Shore Animal League America’s Virtual Celebration of Rescue

Check out this virtual celebration, which includes musical performances by acclaimed international singer-songwriter Joshua Radin, auction with one-of-a-kind celebrity experiences, inspiring animal rescue stories, a celebration of our compassionate frontline heroes and plenty of dog, cat, kitten and puppy love. Hosted by Brian Balthazar and Dan Mannarino from 8p.m. to 9p.m. More information at events@animalleague.org.

The National Dog Show’s 2019’s Best in Show Champion was this adorable Bulldog, Thor. He was 2 years old and weighed in at 60 pounds.

November 26, 2020: The Kennel Club of Philadelphia’s 19th Annual National Dog Show

The tradition continues … The 19th National Dog Show will be on your TVs today from 12p.m. to 2 p.m. on NBC. The beloved co-hosts are back too: John O’Hurley and David Frei. Joining them again Mary Carillo, winner of the 1977 French Open Mixed Doubles Championship with John McEnroe,is an esteemed sportscaster and dog enthusiast. A lifelong dog owner, Mary worked the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show in partnership with Frei for six years and The National Dog Show in Philadelphia for most of the past decade.
And, you’ll see three new dog breeds this year: the Barbet, Dogo Argentino and the Belgian Laekenois. There will be 500-plus canines representing over 170 breeds competing for Best In Show. The show is hosted by the Kennel Club of Philadelphia in Oaks/Valley Forge, PA, just outside Philadelphia. The actual show takes place on Saturday and Sunday, November 14th and 15th at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center.
