Non-Furry Pets for Allergic Kids
If dog and cat allergies are too severe, consider one of these lower-allergen alternatives.

Reptiles don’t produce dander, but they do require specific care and hygiene (especially to prevent salmonella).

Quiet and low-maintenance, amphibians are good options for older children who understand their needs.

Some birds like parakeets and canaries may produce fewer allergens, but feathers and droppings can still be triggers. Always clean cages regularly.
